Clarification (14th and Independence)
Our Safety Department has reviewed the lane restrictions that have been implemented recently in the immediate vicinity of 14th Street and Independence Avenue; due to the volume of traffic at this location during the PM commute and our concern for the safety of our passengers, Martz Virginia plans to move this pick-up location to an alternate area for Southbound PM Commuter Service only, effective Monday, September 14th. These changes will not affect our AM Commuter Service.
· All Riders who board DC-1, DC-4, DC-9, DC-12, and the Friday Noon Shuttle will now be able to board on the west side of 14th St., just north of Independence Avenue .
· Those who board DC-2, DC-3, DC-5, DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, DC-10, and DC-11 will now board on the north side of C St. just before the intersection with 14th St at the Metro Bus stop. The bus will be approaching from 12th St.

Martz Commuter Update

As promised in our June 29th Martz Commuter update, we are now prepared to make several announcements regarding our commuter operation, as well as outline several new programs that will be implemented; these items are as follows:
1)Martz/National Coach Works will continue to operate its existing commuter schedule and will not be canceling any routes.
2)Wireless (WIFI) equipment will be installed in the entire Martz/National Coach Works fleet of vehicles prior to 2009 year-end and will be available for commuter use free of charge.
3)A direct Pentagon Express Commuter Service/Shuttle will be implemented within the next 60 days. Details to follow in future announcements.
4)A "Customer Loyalty" program and "Customer Referral" program will be outlined and implemented no later than September 8, 2009; the intent is to reward Martz commuter customers while simultaneously providing incentives to attract additional commuter customers to ride Martz.
5)The Martz/National Coach Works Message Board has been reactivated/revitalized and will be used on a routine basis by Martz to announce new programs and commuter updates/issues. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOOKMARK www.martzgroupva.com and check regularly for updates/news.
6)A detailed survey soliciting additional operational comments from commuters related to stops, routes, pickup locations, etc. will be available online no later than August 7, 2009. This survey will only be available online; Martz will randomly select and award three (3) free monthly passes and three (3) free 20-ride passes from among those commuters who participate and provide their input via this survey. Survey results will be used to further improve our commuter operation.
Our intent is to provide a quality commuter service for the long-term; we fully recognize that you have multiple commuter options and we will endeavor to make Martz the option that is most desired and valued by the community.
Thank you!
7/27/09 Commuter Update
Because of intermittent street closures this afternoon on 14th St. between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Ave., Passengers that normally board at 14th and Dept. of Commerce should proceed to either 14th St. and G or 13th and Pennsylvania Avenue as an alternate boarding location if there is a closure. Also, due to the anticipated detour for some routes departing the city, please allow extra time for your scheduled bus to arrive.Thank you.
Security
Comfort, safety, and service have defined our commitment to customers since 1908. Now, because of the uncertainties in the post-9/11 world, we want to remind you of a fourth defining focus: your security.
Martz has always guarded the security of its customers and employees. However, the times in which we live and travel together have forged a new urgency to do even more. To that end, we at the Martz Group have created and implemented Security Policies and Procedures that add greater emphasis, reinforcement and reassurance to all aspects of security for personnel and passengers.
Here's a partial list of actions that we have taken:
- We have established more security-minded hiring procedures.
- We have developed a more stringent program of clear employee identification.
- We have provided enhanced security on our motorcoaches.
- We have given all relevant employees training on Security Awareness.
- We have initiated specific and comprehensive steps for responding to security threats or crises.
We are informing you of this, not to frighten you, but to put your mind at ease. You can travel with any member company of the Martz Group with the reassurance that we are dedicated to preventing security issues, as well as to responding to them successfully if any should occur.
Security is a part of safety, and your safety continues to be our utmost concern. Please feel free to contact us if you would like more detailed information
