Martz Virginia Commuter Announcement


This announcement is a follow-up to previous correspondence/notices provided by Martz Virginia regarding the phasing out of Martz Virginia commuter tickets that display no expiration dates.  As a reminder, all tickets without expiration dates will be eliminated from the Martz Virginia commuter program and will not be accepted after December 31, 2009.

Any Martz Virginia commuter customer with undated tickets remaining in his/her possession should contact Megan Bailey at mabailey@martzgroup.com in order to receive one (1) replacement package of dated commuter tickets for future use.

Martz Virginia Commuter Announcement

Great News!!!  Martz Virginia is happy to announce that it has received approval from the Pentagon Transit Center to use the lower level bus bay (L-3) to pickup and drop off commuter passengers.   Therefore, we will initiate our Pentagon Express Run on Monday, November 2, 2009.  Specific pickup locations and times will be posted shortly on the Martz Virginia website as part of this new service; additionally, we will also initiate service to locations in Crystal City on other Martz Virginia commuter routes as part of our effort to expand our services to our customers. 

More Great News!!!  Our WiFi equipment has arrived and we are beginning the installation of this equipment immediately in our commuter busses; as envisioned, our fleet will be completely WiFi-equipped and operational in this area no later than the end of 2009. 

We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of our commuter customers and hope that you will encourage others to use our service by taking advantage of our Customer Referral Program that was recently rolled out!

As promised in our July 30th, 2009 update, we are prepared to announce our new Customer Loyalty and Customer Referral programs for our Martz Virginia commuter service.   We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our commuter customers for your continued patronage and input regarding our daily service; we are proud of our twenty-five (25) years of commuter service in the Virginia/DC market and we will continue to provide safe, reliable, and courteous service!

Before outlining our new programs, we would also like to provide additional updates regarding other commuter initiatives currently under development, as follows:
  • Our Pentagon Express Run is being finalized; we are awaiting approval from the Pentagon Transportation Office regarding our bay assignment.  Once this assignment is made/approved, we will initiate our Express Run within two (2) weeks.
  • Wireless (WiFi) equipment is being tested at the present time within our fleet.   As previously stated, the entire Martz Virginia fleet will be equipped with this feature no later than 2009 year-end and commuters will be able to access this service "free of charge".
  • Our latest Commuter Survey results are being tabulated and we will announce the winners of the three (3) free monthly passes and the three (3) free 20-ride passes no later than September 18th from among those commuter customers who answered our survey.
  • It has been reported that some of our competitors are reducing/eliminating selected routes, effective Tuesday, September 8th.   We will honor those competitor tickets for the remainder of September - provided those customers pre-register with Megan Bailey at mabailey@martzgroup.com or via phone at 540-898-6959, ext.22.   Martz commuters are encouraged to promote this as a "tie-in" to our new Customer Referral program outlined on the reverse side of this notice; please ensure that if you refer a competitor's customer that they provide your name to Megan Bailey so you receive credit for the referral.

Our new Customer Loyalty and Customer Referral programs are as follows and will take effect on Tuesday, September 8th:

Customer Loyalty Program

  • We will include all monthly and 20-ride customers in the loyalty program.   For each calendar "quarter/3 month period" we will review/count receipts from existing customers as part of a prize raffle.  Each customer has the potential to have three (3) entries in the raffle, i.e., one per month/20-ride ticket purchase.   First prize per quarter will be a $150 gift certificate, 2nd prize $100, 3rd prize $50.    
  • At the end of each calendar year, we will hold a grand prize drawing and will include all existing customers with valid ticket purchase receipts as part of the drawing.   Each customer has the potential to have a maximum of twelve (12) entries in the raffle, i.e., one per month/20-ride ticket purchase.   First prize will be $2,500, 2nd prize $1,500, 3rd prize $500.    
  • Additionally, at the end of each calendar year, every customer who has purchased a minimum of nine (9) monthly or 20-ride tickets during that calendar year will receive a complimentary 10-ride ticket free of charge.
  • Additional elements of the loyalty program will include discounts on Martz Virginia's Radio City Music Hall Christmas trip as well as discounts/giveaways for Gray Line of Washington, DC's sightseeing tours.
  • Customer Referral Program
  • We will include all monthly and 20-ride customers in the referral program.  For each new customer who is referred to Martz Virginia by an existing monthly or 20-ride Martz commuter, a 5% rebate on the total new customer purchase amount will be issued to the current Martz commuter at the end of a six-month period.    A minimum of six monthly tickets or six 20-ride tickets must be purchased.   Example:  A current Martz commuter refers a new monthly customer.  $280 x 6 months = $1,680 x 5% = $84 rebate.  This rebate may be applied to a ticket purchase or be issued to the Martz commuter.     The number of customers that can be referred is unlimited.

We encourage each and every one of our commuter customers to actively participate in both of these new programs in the future and, as always, we want to thank you for your patronage and loyalty!!

Martz Virginia Commuter Update - 7/30/09

As promised in our June 29th Martz Commuter update, we are now prepared to make several announcements regarding our commuter operation, as well as outline several new programs that will be implemented; these items are as follows:

1)Martz/National Coach Works will continue to operate its existing commuter schedule and will not be canceling any routes.

2)Wireless (WIFI) equipment will be installed in the entire Martz/National Coach Works fleet of vehicles prior to 2009 year-end and will be available for commuter use free of charge.

3)A direct Pentagon Express Commuter Service/Shuttle will be implemented within the next 60 days.  Details to follow in future announcements.

4)A "Customer Loyalty" program and "Customer Referral" program will be outlined and implemented no later than September 8, 2009; the intent is to reward Martz commuter customers while simultaneously providing incentives to attract additional commuter customers to ride Martz.

5)The Martz/National Coach Works Message Board has been reactivated/revitalized and will be used on a routine basis by Martz to announce new programs and commuter updates/issues.  WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOOKMARK www.martzgroupva.com and check regularly for updates/news.

6)A detailed survey soliciting additional operational comments from commuters related to stops, routes, pickup locations, etc. will be available online no later than August 7, 2009.   This survey will only be available online; Martz will randomly select and award three (3) free monthly passes and three (3) free 20-ride passes from among those commuters who participate and provide their input via this survey.  Survey results will be used to further improve our commuter operation.

Our intent is to provide a quality commuter service for the long-term; we fully recognize that you have multiple commuter options and we will endeavor to make Martz the option that is most desired and valued by the community.
